Judge strikes down Bush on terror groups

President Bushs with Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff"A federal judge struck down President Bush's authority to designate groups as terrorists, saying his post-Sept. 11 executive order was unconstitutionally vague, according to a ruling released Tuesday.

"The Humanitarian Law Project had challenged Bush's order, which blocked all the assets of groups or individuals he named as 'specially designated global terrorists' after the 2001 terrorist attacks.

"'This law gave the president unfettered authority to create blacklists,' said David Cole, a lawyer for the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Constitutional Rights that represented the group. 'It was reminiscent of the McCarthy era.'"

We're Back!

We were experiencing "Technical Difficulties" and couldn't access the controls for our website, loveshade.org, or change any part of it.  That's why as of this posting it still says it's October.  We finally got things worked out, so will be updating very soon, hopefully by November 17.

We're still dealing with the problem that someone has been using our domain name for return addresses for spam.  If you've received email from us in the past two weeks from this domain that wasn't a personal message to you, it was not sent by us.

We also apologize for not getting your comments posted in a timely manner, but it was due to the same set of problems.  We are working to get things fixed very soon, and should have most of them up today.  Thanks for your patience.

School Boots 3 Girls in 'Underpants'

A high school principal in Long Beach New York banned three girls because they dressed as Captain Underpants on Superhero Day. Captain Underpants is a children's book. So is it too sexy for high school?Captain Underpants

And the girls were completely covered. They wore beige leotards and nude stockings under their white briefs.

But Principal Nicholas Restivo didn't like it.  "Yes, I know they weren't naked," Restivo said. "But the appearance was that they were naked."

If he thinks wearing briefs over a leotard looks like being naked, he needs to go to a nude beach. I guess he just doesn't like briefs.  Maybe he wouldn't have a problem if the girls just took their underwear off.
