Sex Offenders Required to Live Under Bridge in Miami
Here's another twist on the sex offender laws that have been popping up in the last few years and are growing bigger and bigger throughout America.
In Miami, Florida, the ordinances have gotten so strict that five offenders are living under a bridge with the state's approval. The reason? It's virtually impossible for them to get housing.
So they've been forced to live outside all day and all night near where children play and teenagers hang out rather than live within 2,500 feet of a school.
Not all offenders were convicted of anything violent. Some were arrested for having willing relations with their boyfriend/girlfriend, or of downloading photos off the Internet that are considered legal in some parts of the country, but not in others. So does forcing them, and those who were convicted of violent crimes, to live on the streets make them and everyone else safer?
