No Naked Boys in Australia--Even If It's Art
Remember Australia, which used to be such a cool place to visit and live? Well, censors and social prudes are continuing to wage their glorious battle to make the country sterile and oppressed for visitors and natives alike.
When Sculpture by the Sea opens on Thursday, a statue of a lost little boy will be wearing swimmers. This is not the wishes of the artist Paul Trefry. Little Boy Lost showed a young boy lost on the beach, naked and vulnerable. But apparently censors were so worried about people in Australia seeing the sculpture, that they insisted the boys' "naughty bits' be covered.
You really have to watch those Australians, as their uncontrollable urges force them to molest anything they see that's not wearing clothes. Where do you think satyrs and wolfmen and mermaids come from? There are so many naked goats and wolves and fish there.

Aussies are getting more prudish than Americans. Who would have thought it.
But yeah, keep naked kids away from Aussies unless, of course, it's in the privacy of their own home where nobody can see what they're doing.

As usual, you're taking something and running out of the ballpark with it. There's no reason this statue has to be naked. It's out there in public where anyone can see it. Public nudity is not acceptable, and I'm glad they covered this boy up.

This is just silly. A statue of a naked little boy has to be covered? What is this, the Victorian era?
And Christian Andy, what if someone covered up a part of Jesus they didn't like? Like the nails in the hands and feet so the kids would think he was just hanging out?

Art is art for crying out loud. Are we gonna cover all those naked Greek statues?
Posted by: Vernon Avaritt | October 28, 2009 03:04 PM
You have a point, Vernon. Those Greeks reproduced like mad and created civilization? Must have been because they got so turned on looking at those statues. If we got rid of them, we could decrease the surplus population. Scrooge would be proud.

Some Aussies are mad, sure. But some are normal folk that like looking at statues of nude kids.

No naked boys on Aussie beach,
That's what's said by Edna Peach.

This is just stupid.

Did you know Australia was started by a bunch of criminals? It's true. Now they're acting so holier than thou. You're all children of crooks. people! Get over it!
Posted by: Fire Chief | November 5, 2009 01:01 AM
I agree with Frank this is just stupid. People are so afraid of the human body. If you believe God or Goddess made it, why do you want to hide it? And if you believe it's natural then why hide it then too?
I'm a nudist and u learn that when we see ppl naked a lot it just seems natural. When u dont then its like a big deal and people freak out even if its just a statute. It's just silly! Click on my link and you can learn more about nudism and how natural and beautiful it is!

Marie there is nothing obscene about Jesus dying on the cross and shedding his blood for the forgiveness of sins! It's important for children to know that Jesus loves them, and the Bible says there is no greater expression of love than to die for a friend. Jesus died for the people world because he loves everyone, then ascended on the third day to sit at the right hand of God the father. Anyone who accepts him as lord and savior will be saved for all eternity. That has nothing to do with naked boys on the beach.

Yep, that's right, Andy. We wouldn't want the little kiddies learning what boys and girls look like, and of course not the parents, who should change diapers with their eyes closed. Save nudity for when the young ones are old enough to use the Internet, and they can learn that bodies are only for sex. But of course let them see someone being tortured and executed. That's the lesson we want to teach them. "See that Jesus who quit his job and lived on the street and got tortured and executed? That's what Mommy and Daddy want you to be like."

There's nothing obscene about the human body either, Andy. Don't you believe God made it?

Are you a professional journalist? You write very well.
(In answer to your question, Reverend Loveshade has been published professionally, but not as a journalist. Alden has worked as a professional journalist for more than one newspaper. Lorien was published in a school-produced book about the attack in America on 11 September 2001 and has written featured articles for an online encyclopedia.)

Let's not pick on us Aussies, will you? Many of us don't molest statues. Except of course when we're on a walkabout.

Anything goes on a walkabout.

Great show, I don't think they could have found a better combination of actors and actresses for this series. I may not like any of them in particular, but they definitely produce an entertaining episode for me to watch.
