Saul Landau, Barack Obama, and the World
"After eleven months in office, Barack Obama has hardly revolutionized – or even altered – the major dysfunction that confronts our system. A man of obviously good values – read his books and speeches – he has yet to show convictions. He has tinkered to keep terrible problems from getting much worse – a kind of political plumber without access to equipment that would redo the entire system."
That is from the blog of Saul Landau, an Emmy-award winning documentary producer I had the priviledge to work under as head writer of a university-produced, English-language telenovela. Landau, a fellow of the Institute for Policy Studies, is an internationally-known filmmaker, television producer and author who focuses on domestic and foreign policy. Discordians might be interested to know he won a Golden Apple award for "The Sixth Sun: Mayan Uprising in Chiapas," a film that was a major inspiration to both myself and Reverend Loveshade. Saul is also a man who, like many of us here, was thoroughly investigated because he knew the "wrong" people and asked the "wrong" questions.
You can read a short bio on Landau, who can be profound and entertaining at the same time, at http://progreso-weekly.com/2/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=971:saul-landau&catid=42:our-columnists&Itemid=60

It takes time to make major changes. And you can't know someone's true convictions unless you can read their mind. Only God knows that. But no changes will work that don't follow the will of God. If America lived up to its founding as a true Christian nation, we wouldn't have the problems we have now.

Really I think Obama's doing a good job but he's trying to fix the problems of eight years! I think he's a totally better president than George W. Bush and he's working to get us out of Iraq. John McCain wanted us to stay there and of course Bush sent us there to get their oil even though that's not what he claimed. Obama hasn't done everything he said but no president has.
I've heard about Saul Landau but I don't know him. Of course I know about being investigated and I was only 14 years old! Be careful what you post in an online diary! lol But of course there was a lot more to it than that.
It's like if you do anything that somebody in power doesnt like they'll investigate you. And I know Saul was with guerillas so of course that gets you investigated because the government thinks they're the same thing as terrorist. But freedom fighters are guerillas! Terrorists attack randomly so that they terrorize everyone. Guerillas only attack their enemies. I know in reality it doesn't always work that way but that's their beliefs.

So you're claiming to know someone else famous, huh? You aren't impressing us. And guerillas are good guys, eh? Tell that to the people they shoot. As for the president, he's a politician, isn't he?

I pray that our President will get us through this mess. America is not a "Christian" country, anyone can worship anyway they please. That is what's so good about America. Peace and Love!!!

Rev. Bootie why don't you try saying something nice more often? It might help you feel better.
I believe Obama's doing a much better job than what happened before. I don't agree with everything either. But things are getting better, even if it's slow.

I got nothing against black people, but does this guy know what he's doing? Speaking interesting speeches ain't gonna save the country. A plumber fixes pipes, like Saul says. But if the pipes are in the wrong place, no amount of fixing will get the crap down the crapper.

If America doesn't bomb the world into smitherines, who will? You want some Nazis or Commies doing it? If the world's going to get destroyed let it me by good, old-fashioned, American Imperialism.

People say what's wrong with America but I say what's right. You might think I'm old fashioned, but America is free. It's the greatest nation in the world, and we should be proud of it.

America is the greatest country in the world if it's the greatest to you. Other people may feel their country is the greatest.

I got nothing against truckers, but does this guy know what he's doing?

The world must be saved against evil. That's why I'm here.

Is Saul single? His bio doesn't say. If he got investigated for asking wrong questions he's cool.

Well, it seems the fervor about Obama has "changed" :D
