Is there really a reason men can go topless and women can’t? Should women blindfold their babies and toddlers before they let them nurse? This isn’t about nudism, it’s about feminism and personism.

To show that women should have the same rights as men, the 10th anniversary GoTopless Day peaceful protest is Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017.  It’s always near the Sunday nearest Women’s Equality Day when women got the right to vote for gender equality.

Women and girls can go topless (or with their nipples covered, usually with fake nipples, if they’re marching in a prudish area), and men can wear bikini tops and bras.  To find out if it’s happening near you, and if women can go fully topfree or not, check here.

An opinion of a friend or associate of The Loveshade Family doesn’t necessarily reflect the views of the whole family.

  1. One of these days, maybe I’ll write an article on how the division of “men’s chests are OK and women’s chests are not” began. I don’t think it actually dates back more than about a hundred years or so in American society at least. It’s a cultural norm I’ve never seen any logical justification for.

  2. I used to do this every year. But I haven’t as much after I became an elementary school teacher. I still believe in it but there’s so much pressure on teachers to conform or be fired. That’s even in California.

But I’m going for it this year but not in the city where I work!

    • I’m sure there’s still pressure, but some things have changed even there. While I’m not currently actively involved in a school system like I have been much of my life, I do see contestants on the TV family game show “Wheel of Fortune” who are teachers openly mention their same-sex spouse or sother. I can’t hardly imagine that happening so openly 20 or so years ago in most areas, certainly not 40 years ago. Lillian Hellman’s 1934 play “The Children’s Hour” dealt with how even a rumor of lesbian teachers could destroy. And that was with two women; two men would have been even more controversial. It’s weird how there’s such controversy over something virtually every human being has two of, nipples.

    • There’s a march at Venice Beach. Venice Beach makes women cover their nipples. But we can get fake nipples to put over the real ones, and that’s OK. Silly?

  3. It got rained out in Austin, TX. A couple of us marched anyway. We marched out the door, then back in. 😀
