Chinese Zoo Visitors Kill Kangaroos

If you had any doubt that zoos in China are often terrible, you should have no doubt now.

Visitors wanted some kangaroos to hop for their entertainment. When they didn’t, the visitors threw rocks at them. One helpless kangaroo was injured, another died.

Should we stone an animal to death because it won’t dance?

  1. This is one of the most horrible things I ever heard of. Kangaroos should stone those people!

  2. Well, they’ll stone you when you’re trying to be so good
They’ll stone you just a-like they said they would
They’ll stone you when you’re stayin’ off your feet
They’ll stone you when you’re tryin’ to keep your seat

  3. We have some disagreements on zoos. I think if handled well, they can help preserve species that otherwise might vanish, help them get re-established in the wild, and raise awareness and appreciation for nature. But I agree this sounds like a awful incident. Hopefully this will raise awareness in China and other parts of the world, and things will improve.

  4. This is very sad. The people probably didn’t mean to kill them, just to get them to dance. But it should never have happened. I so hope this does lead to better treatment for zoo animals.

  5. What if they gave the rocks to give the rocks to the kangaroos? Would the people let them do the throwing so the kangaroos could see the people dance? Teach your children how to behave, people!

  6. Throw those people, I use that loosely, stark naked and no rocks in the pen with the kangaroos. Let’s see who wins.
