Humans are Sheep–Stand with the Flock?

Hidden camera social experiment (posted by Anonymous)

Hidden camera social experiment (posted by Anonymous)

A small social experiment–would you stand at a buzzer just because everybody else does?

In “free” societies, it’s often used as an insult to call people “sheep.”  We like to say, “Do your own thing,” and “Be yourself,” and “Don’t do that just because your friends do.”

But Homo sapiens are a social species. Most of us do go along with the crowd, even if we don’t know why. Even the most independent of us doesn’t desire to be ostracized from our own society.

So would you stand up?

Sex is Like a Cup of Tea

How is having sex like having a cup of tea? If they wanted tea last week, does that mean they want it now? What if they wanted it an hour ago? What if they asked for it when they were awake, but now they’re asleep? Watch this (clean) video to find out.

Here’s How We Can Stop Racism

Jake Estrada

My Facebook friend Jake Estrada posted this on Facebook:

Here’s how we may be able to stop racism, and finally come forward as people. You stop talking about how you are white, black, purple or any other color out there. I stop calling you a white woman or man, you stop calling me a Puerto Rican man. I know you by your name. You know me by mine. We stop referring to other people by their ethnicity, we embrace the fact we are human. Now this may be hard for some to do right away, this may be difficult as we have had centuries of mental training to cling to our racial/ethnic backgrounds. Yet we can start today one day at a time, an embrace our uniqueness as people and fight for a better tomorrow for our children and their children. WE CAN DO THIS.

America is Better than Everybody Else

If you haven’t noticed, we’re moving close to the Fourth of July, the American Independence Day.  While the phrase is rampant all the time, this is especially the time to hear, “America is the greatest country in the world.”

Ever stop to think how that sounds to non-Americans?  (Of course if you aren’t American, you have).  What does it literally mean?  It means Americans are better than everyone else.  In other words, every other country in the world is inferior to America.  It’s an insult to the world.

Do an online search for “Greatest country in the world” and (as of five minutes ago) you’ll see articles either saying America is the greatest or America is not the greatest.  They’ll almost all be about America.

America is a superpower.  Russian President Vladimir Putin recently said America is “probably the only superpower.”  But the “land of the free, home of the brave” is consistently not listed as the greatest in personal freedom, in economic freedom, in freedom of the press, in education level, in medical care, or in having law-abiding citizens (instead it has the highest prison population rate in the world).

But America is the greatest country in the world.  So is Russia.  So is China, and the United Kingdom, and Israel, and Egypt, and Iran and Iraq and every other nation in the world to someone.

If you want to praise America on the 4th of July, by all means do so.  But consider saying, “America is the greatest country in the world–to me.”

Where’s The Blogs?

As of right now, you may notice there’s almost a year gap between blog posts.  Yes, we’re aware of it, and yes, we’re working on it.  We had something of a glitch ($%&!#X!) in doing an update.  It’s in the process of being fixed, so please bear with us while we work to restore the missing posts.

In the meantime, feel free to check out those classic blog posts below

Update 2016 07 14 #1: We’re getting more back up.  Check below!

Update 2016 07 14 #2: A goof in our supposed fix didn’t allow any new comments on any posts, even the new ones (old ones often disallow comments to avoid spam buildup). We believe we have the problem fixed. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beholder

Lizzie Velasquez was born with an extremely rare medical condition that keeps her body from storing fats. In addition to being severely underweight, she is also blind in one eye. She was cyberbullied but stood up for herself. You can too!

Are you beautiful? Believe you are and you are.

People who are hurting want to hurt others. Don’t do it because it won’t make you feel any better.

Lizzie Velasquez, who is blind in one eye and has a condition where her body doesn’t store fat, was cyberbullied. But she stood up to it and has wonderful ideas how you can too. She’s great at TEDxYouth@Austin Be free to be beautiful!

Breastfeeding Two Girls is Beautiful

Chelsea Craig, the mother in the images, is shown breastfeeding her two daughters, Addy and Emilynn, in photos taken by professional maternity photographer Mae Burke.

Photos of a mother breastfeeding her two daughters is going viral. The photos taken by Mae Burke show Chelsea Craig breastfeeding her little girls Addy and Emilynn.

Some people are upset because you can see her breasts, including her nipples in some shots, and some people are upset because one of her daughters is no longer a toddler. Well guess what? Breasts don’t have an expiration date. There’s no warning saying when you’re supposed to stop using them. And whoever decided women’s chests are sexy and men’s aren’t was probably a heterosexual man. Let’s get over ageism and sexism and let life be beautiful.

Ek-sen-trik-kuh Discordia 10 Year Anniversary

Cover of the pulled edition of Ek-sen-trik-kuh Discordia: The Tales of Shamlicht.

No, it’s not the 10-year anniversary of the book. Ek-sen-trik-kuh Discordia: The Tales of Shamlicht came out just a couple years ago–then was pulled from publication very, very quickly. (Obscenity? Plagiarism? Government Crackdown?)

And no, it’s not the 10-year anniversary of when it began. The earliest Discordian pieces written by Reverend Loveshade that appear in Ek-sen-trik-kuh Discordia were written in late 1994.

But it is the 10-year anniversary of Reverend Loveshade’s vision to begin the collection. The Rev. was in hiding on Mid Year’s day, 2 July 2005, on a friend’s small farm in Texas. That was where and when the dream vision of Cherub Princess Shamlicht to write the book came in a dream.

And though the book, which received blurbs from Alan Moore, R. Crumb, Robert Anton Wilson and Rev. Ivan Stang, was pulled, it appears Ek-sen-trik-kuh Discordia may return in 2016….

PeTA Wiki Begins

The PETA Wiki (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has sat virtually empty and idle for years. But now it’s growing!

I, Miley Spears, recently adopted and rebooted the site at peta.wikia.com. There’s not much there yet, so you can get in on the ground floor!

It isn’t a site for rants (except on your talk page). It’s for spreading and sharing information about PETA and other animal rights organizations, animals and animals rights, activists and causes.

If you want to help create a new Wiki for animals rights, sign up! If you’re already a wiki editor, you probably already have an account (uncylopedia.wikia.com and a few other wikis use a different system). If you don’t have a wikia account, get one for free!
