U.S. Government Shutdown Day 10: Guess Who Still Gets Paid?

When the government funding shuts down due to a battle in Congress, guess who still gets paid?

Congress has one key duty in the Constitution — pass spending bills that fund the government. If it doesn’t, most functions of government — from funding agencies to paying out small business loans and processing passport requests — grinds to a halt. But some services, like Social Security, air traffic control and active military pay, will continue to be funded. Oh, and Congress still gets paid, too.

People should not be made to suffer because of government infighting. Like Rodney King said, can’t we get along?

  2. Miley Spears says:

So it’s OK not to pay other people but OK to keep the money for yourself? If your boss did that to you, you’d quit.

  3. TawTew the Naturally Perfumed says:

I think a lot of people want to quit having the same people in Congress. We could use more compassion from our leaders.

  4. Pet Girl says:

Isn’t the answer obvious? Stop paying congress for not doing their job!

  5. MJ Lover says:

    I got something short
    to say today,
if you don’t do your job
    you shouldn’t get your pay.

  6. Christian Andy says:

The Bible says, The Workman is worthy of his hire. If you don’t do your job, you shouldn’t get paid.
