Here’s How We Can Stop Racism

Jake Estrada

My Facebook friend Jake Estrada posted this on Facebook:

Here’s how we may be able to stop racism, and finally come forward as people. You stop talking about how you are white, black, purple or any other color out there. I stop calling you a white woman or man, you stop calling me a Puerto Rican man. I know you by your name. You know me by mine. We stop referring to other people by their ethnicity, we embrace the fact we are human. Now this may be hard for some to do right away, this may be difficult as we have had centuries of mental training to cling to our racial/ethnic backgrounds. Yet we can start today one day at a time, an embrace our uniqueness as people and fight for a better tomorrow for our children and their children. WE CAN DO THIS.

That’s great Jake and Miley! I’m a person not a color.

  3. Miley Spears says:

It can work with people of different genders too. I’m a person before I’m a woman.

  4. Jake Estrada says:

Thanks for putting this up. I think all together we can make a difference. WE CAN DO THIS!!

  5. Great point! But still I think there’s some value to knowing your family’s cultural heritage. I used to call myself part White and part Mexican and Indian but many people call Mexicans White. Im not really Hispanic because my Spanish is terrible. But I am a person!

I agree Lorien. But I think this means that being a person is more important than the other things. We’re both Discordian American Princesses but I wouldn’t want to be judged mainly by that! 😀

  6. Here is another ism faced head on: Handicapism.

  7. Pope Hilde says:

We seem to like to divide people into us and them. It does cause division.
